Egypt Prostitutes Itself to Western Imperialists to Enable Ethnic Cleansing of Arab Brothers and Sisters
A Stab in the Back: Egypt's Betrayal of the Palestinian People
The bombs rain down on Gaza, Israeli soldiers march through the rubble of Sheikh Jarrah, refugees huddle in fear. And where is Egypt, the supposed leader of the Arab world? Cowering behind empty words while actively enabling the ethnic cleansing of our Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Egypt's craven capitulation to American and Israeli interests has culminated in the tragic exodus of Palestinians from their ancestral homes. While President El-Sisi sheds crocodile tears about "Palestinian rights," his actions tell a different story.
Providing Israel cover under the guise of mediating a "ceasefire" that legitimizes apartheid. Turning a blind eye to the forced displacement of Palestinians into concentration camps in Egypt’s Sinai. Allowing the US to dictate terms that favor Israel's genocidal aims under the veneer of diplomacy.
This is a new low, even for the sham "Arab solidarity" demonstrated by regimes beholden to Western imperialism. The Palestinian cause that once stirred our hearts and imaginations now faces betrayal from all sides.
Where is the Egypt that once stood proudly against colonizers and oppressors? The Egypt that inspired the Arab world to rise against injustice? That Egypt exists only in memories now drowned out by drone strikes and wailing sirens.
As Israel brutalizes civilians in the open-air prison that is Gaza, Egypt has become a complicit jailor, not a liberator. It acts against the interests and lives of our Palestinian sisters and brothers. This hypocrisy shall not be forgotten or forgiven.
If Egypt's bankrupt leadership refuses to take a real stand, then it falls to ordinary people of conscience in the Arab world to rally to the Palestinian cause. We cannot rely on the false promises of rulers who have sold their souls. We must rekindle the spirit of solidarity from the ground up, united by anguish and hope under the banner of freedom.
