We discuss with fellow psychologists Sacha Rombouts and Benji Schoendorff about the resistance against the genocide, imperialism and how to deal with a world run by psychopaths.
Sasha makes a valid point when he observes that victims of sexual assault, should hold their governments that support Israel accountable for these horrific and systemic rapes committed against the Palestinians. By extension, these governments absolve the Israeli rapists of these crimes which lead to an absurd logic that rapists in their own countries, could placate their governments to absolve them as well for the sake of consistency.
A further point that Sasha made that really struck me was the analogy of a national psyche with that of a narcissist. Could it really be possible that Israeli Jews are incredulous at the amount of resistance they are receiving from especially ordinary westerners with whom they thought they shared a likeness of mind? That ordinary westerners also thought as they do, that raping children, women and men wholesale, are acceptable and civilised? It is truly troublesome that a nation could be conditioned to the extent that rape is an acceptable practice if committed against children (girls and boys), women and men of a nation that has been reduced to being subhuman. It is frightening that 66% of men at Australian universities would commit rape if they are certain that they could get away with it. So, if the conditions are conducive to committing rape with impunity, as is the case in Palestine, as was the case in World War I and II, Vietnam and so many other wars and conflicts, there appears to be a disintegration of civilised norms and values in the vast majority of men. We simply give in to our most primitive instincts. Whatever the conditions, this hideous behaviour of men can never be intellectualised, justified or absolved.
