No. Israel is still committing a genocide it's just doing it in the West Bank now. Trump gave Bibi some goodies and made the world take their eyes off Palestine.

Israel also targeted and killed a Palestinian teenager in Gaza yesterday. They are already resuming the genocide. They’ve said outright that they plan to fully continue murdering in Gaza at the end of 45 days. But they couldn’t wait. Your podcast and your writing and your voice are one of the most important out there, to me. Yet I think it’s very naive to imagine Trump will attempt to prevent them from resuming fully. He already said it’s not the U.S.’s war. He’s openly speculated on Gaza’s real estate value.

Good point, there is every reason to believe that Trump will get rolled by the Blob, the Israeli government, the Israel Lobby, and their legions of bought-and-paid for representatives in Congress. There is even good reason to believe that “rolled” is the wrong word here, and that Trump has always been, is now, and will always be subservient to the Blob, including its Israeli corpuscle; and that this move by Trump is just a means of providing respite for the Israeli military before expanding its our mass murder in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Yemen, and Iran.

The idea that anyone, let alone Jews, would consider praising this Mussolini wannabe is deplorable. As a Jew, I've been raked over the coals for speaking out against Israel's genocide in Gaza, primarily by Israelis on this platform and American Jews in my daily interactions. When I was a teenager, my popularity mattered. As an adult, nothing could interest me less. It's my humanity that drives me. I'm disgusted by the right-wing turn of so many Jews, all under the guise of protecting Israel. It's the same mentality adopted by German Jews who thought they were safe from Hitler.

Trump's rain of executive orders

Emanuel Pastreich

Jan 24

The first challenge for us is the use by the Trump administration of a barrage of executive orders to alter government institutions and change the manner in which the country is run so that the president and group of billionaires around him make all decisions which are then rubberstamped by Congress. This political action is paralleled by a media blitz, repeated in social media like the bankrupt X formally known as Twitter, that makes it appear as if Trump won a legitimate election, that he has massive support, and that his policies are a response to what the people want.

The most dangerous executive orders that destroy the rule of law and end all accountability and transparency in government, are:

“REMOVING BARRIERS TO AMERICAN LEADERSHIP IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE”

Opens the door to the takeover of the entire government, and the world by unaccountable IT firms and private intelligence hiding behind the mask of “AI”

“STRENGTHENING AMERICAN LEADERSHIP IN DIGITAL FINANCIAL TECHNOLOGY”

Opens the way to Central Bank Digital Currency at the very same time that Trump supposedly rejected it by renaming it as “crypto” and empowering the fusion of IT and private equity to run the economy.

“GUARANTEEING THE STATES PROTECTION AGAINST INVASION”

Laying the foundations for a military government and blurs any distinction between the federal and state governments

“Designating Cartels And Other Organizations As Foreign Terrorist Organizations And Specially Designated Global Terrorists”

Allowing the military to undertake largescale military actions in the United States and to designate any organization chosen by the elites as a military enemy.

“ESTABLISHING AND IMPLEMENTING THE PRESIDENT’S DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY”

Creating an unconstitutional and opaque “department,” which is not actually a department, that is empowered to fire government employees at will for the interest of the billionaires.

All of these executive orders are prefaced with the line:

“By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered as follows”

The executive order has always been problematic in nature, but here it is used to remke by fiat the very nature of the presidency and the legal system. Trump is saying, in essence, what the president says is the law. Or, as Louis XIV supposedly remarked, “

“L'État, c'est moi”

"I am the state"

There are any number of legal challenges being raised, and that legal effort is worthwhile.

I want to go out on a limb, however, and state that ultimately we will find that it is not sufficient to counter each claim of authority by Trump in the courts. We will ultimately have to say that if the president ignores the people, corrupts the law, and degrades the Constitution, well then he is not the president in any sense. If the entire Congress supports the president in his immoral and illegal actions, or takes actions that assume that he is so empowered, then they also lose their legitimacy and authority. There is no sin, and much merit, in condemning a completely bankrupt system in toto.

Hilarious vision came to me of Medea Benjamin in a pink MAGA hat in front of the White House and how twisted ans confused the Brian Masts of DC would get.

"Wait...should I be AGAINST the genocide now? That just doesn't feel natural..."

Sometimes a political leader can do the right thing for all the wrong reasons. Let’s not forget Trump is a fanatical white nationalist and American supremacist. I would speculate that he forced a ceasefire not for any humanitarian feelings for Palestinians, but because he didn’t want his inauguration to take place while a major American supported war was going on, and being the American supremacist, he is doesn’t like leaders of client states telling the US what to do. Also he may be unhappy with the amount of American resources being poured into Israel to support the current assault. While we all should welcome that the people of Gaza now have a respite from a genocidal assault, I don’t have much hope that in the longer term the current Administration will result in progress toward Palestinian liberation. Remember during his first term Trump approved moving the Israeli Capitol to Jerusalem, approved the illegal annexation of the Golan Heights and approved the assassination of Soleimani. With allies like Senators Tom Cotton and Lindsay Graham, and Narco Rubio now Secretary of State, I really believe the path to a major war in the region against Iran and allies has been set, I hope I’m wrong. Finally those Progressives like Max Blumenthal, Glenn Greenwald and Jimmy Dore who believe in common cause with the populist right should remember the experience of the German Communist Party in the pre WW2 era who cooperated with the Nazis as a tactic to destroy the Social Democrats, their rivals on the Left. It did not end well for them.

Iraq showed that no one knows anything and that settler colonialism is a contagious USA disease that the population loved having grown up on resistance in Hollywood suppressed by ancient buffed actors doing the Rocky on dark peoples. Left, Trump, Right, these are nebulous terms looking to gain a social foothold and stop liberation theology. The resistance remains in the holy struggle to defend the sacred against the forces of evil fermenting the Nakba- occupation, apartheid, displacement, camps, starvation, dehumanization, genocide- with a long European endocrinology. Hamas are the only men and women worth their salt today. We have a long way to go before labels can be applied and heroes detected. But flattery can only help with a narcissist.

I think Trump has no feelings but self-love. Personally, I think he couldn’t care less about Palestinians. All he sees is good property over there for the grabs.
